Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's youth. The family depended on food delivery services for free from the local grocer. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled at school and was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was a failure in many classes during her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
